Arsenal Transfer News: Gedion Zelalem Set to Make Club Debut Monday

>

The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem could be set to make his club debut on Monday at Liverpool in the U21′s. Zelalem tweeted just last week that his international clearance came in but a more recent tweet Sunday morning made it clear that the German born 16 year old will be with Arsenal’s 21′s in Liverpool tomorrow:

For those of you that missed it, Zelalem was featured in our Emerging Talents section last month as one to watch for the future. Arsenal Scout Danny Karbassiyoon was put on to Zelalem after being contacted by his club coach. The Gunners were quick to act on the young talent and have since brought the German-born Ethiopian youngster into North London. He signed terms with Arsenal in January of 2013 after turning 16 and has been training with Premier League side since.

Zelalem is thought to be technically superb and very intelligent. He’s been coined “The Next Cesc Fabregas”, but he still will have a lot of work to do before being compared to such a talent. Fabregas signed for Arsenal in 2003 and made his first team debut at just 16 years of age. By 17 he was playing in the first team and involved with the squad on a regular basis. Could Zelalem be on the same path as the now two-time European Champion and World Cup Winner? If you are at the match in Liverpool tomorrow, let us know your thoughts on Zelalem below.

    “Ethiopian blood is always impressive”???
Not sure what you mean by that.
I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a decent Ethiopian footballer before.

  5. Arsenal need to spend a money for the upcoming season in football so they can get better results in the upcoming season . Arsenal should target David Villa a good choice striker and then they must go ahead for the others. Arsenal Develope players create them just like Van Persie , Samir Nasri and some others

  6. Elias says:

Good luck Pal. Try to use the opportunity life has given you. Stay away the media ( specially the social one) that has made many potential talents spoiled.

  7. teodros says:

Proud to see an Ethiopian playing for my beloved club, Arsenal. I hoped I would see 6 or 7 Ethiopian players who played in this year’s African cup of nations in some European clubs. But only three are playing abroad now; one in the U.S., one in Sweden and the main striker, Saladin Said, who is by far better than average premier league strikers we watch week in week out, playing in Belgium. European clubs, try to see : Getaneh Kebede, Adane Girma, Dawit Estifanos, Minyahil Teshome ,Addis Hintsa , Abebaw Butako and the three players I mentioned above from the Ethiopian National team which is leading its 2014 World Cup qualifiers ahead of South Africa.
