Could Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Be On His Way to PSG This Summer?
French club PSG have invested heavily in players over the last couple of transfer windows, and they are believed to be increasingly confident about getting Arsene Wenger in the summer. The Frenchman has just over a year left on his contract with the Premier League club. Like never before, there have been huge question marks raised over his ability to lead Arsenal. Even some of the Arsenal fans have turned their back on the 63-year-old.
Current PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti is widely tipped to leave the club for Real Madrid at the end of the season. The departure of José Mourinho from the Santiago Bernabeu could start a merry-go-round that could see Wenger end up at Paris. To add fuel to the rumours, Wenger has also been noncommittal in recent months as well.
It was once again his stance after the 1-1 draw with Manchester United. “First of all I don’t know too much about what’s been said about me. Then I’m concentrating on the next game and the next season. At the end of my contract I’ll see what I can do. I’ve always respected my contracts. I can’t see at my age why that should change,” said Wenger to the Telegraph.
This is not the first time a club with massive financial muscle came in for Wenger, as Real Madrid tried to do the same last summer. Wenger has always been against spending a lot of money, and it was this ideology that supposedly prevented him from moving to the Santiago Bernebeu.
After seeing Arsenal fail to challenge for a trophy once again, Wenger may finally have reasons to leave Arsenal. The constant infighting between the major shareholders at Arsenal – Stan Kroenke and Alisher Usmanov – is also a source of concern.
It is thought that one of Arsenal’s reasons behind not spending money is the belief that UEFA’s financial fair play regulations will affect the big spenders in the near future. However, Arsenal may find themselves lagging behind the competition especially as clubs have more often than not found a way to bend the rules in the past.
Wenger says he wont break his contract, the chairman says he is not going, and yet, still, idiot blogs like this spew out garbage
It was actually the Telegraph that reported Wenger being lured away by PSG -
